San Zhao Phor Lak Muang
Before commencing the development of a town Thais would first construct a Phor Lak Muang, which resembles a pillar which is often found in a city centre, and close to important buildings or landmarks. The Phor Lak Muang in Bangkok for example, is situated opposite the Grand Palace. San Zhao refers to a temple. These are intended to bestow inhabitants with auspiciousness and protection.
