Rūpa Brahmaloka
Rupa means form, and Brahmaloka encompasses the entire domain of a Brahma. Brahma in Buddhism refers to the chief/king of a Heavenly realm, and there are many levels or realms of Heaven (refer to Triloka). There are 20 levels of Brahmaloka, and 16 of them are material worlds or “heavens with forms”, thus the name Rupa Brahmaloka. Here, these beings have some degree of corporeality, manifesting in a subtle, gentle manner. The other 4 remaining higher realms are devoid of any substance and form, and thus, beings here have no corporeal form. These 4 levels of Brahma Heaven are known as Arupa (Formless) Brahmaloka.
