Gru Phra

Gru Phra

A site where monks have hidden Buddhist amulets and statues (Phra) underground, so that future generations will be able to retrieve them for worship. This was often done in times of turmoil when wars and looting were commonplace. This is also done to enhance auspiciousness and provide protection.
