BuangSuang ceremonies are conducted to request permission before any work is carried out such as groundbreaking ceremonies for buildings, Thais (as well as other Southeast Asian cultures) conduct ceremonies seeking permission from the spirits and deities residing in the area for their activities. In forests or jungles, BuangSuang ceremonies are commonly carried out before any sort of filming activity, as it is believed that certain trees may have spirits residing within them.
